Below are some of the recent changes to legislation or proposed legislation on which Ai Group has actively been in consultation with the Government.
The Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes) Act 2023 was passed by the Australian Parliament on 14 December 2023 and the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Closing Loopholes No.2) Act 2024 was passed on 12 February.
The Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022 (Cth) was passed by the Australian Parliament on 2 December 2022. It made significant changes to the Fair Work Act, most of which have commenced. Fixed term contract prohibitions and sunsetting of zombie agreements commence in December 2023.
The Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Protecting Worker Entitlements) Act 2023 (Cth) was passed through Parliament. It made changes to the FW Act which mostly commenced on 1 July 2023. The superannuation as a right within NES laws commence from 1 January 2024.
